A 17 percent reduction in funding to child support enforcement programs began in this federal fiscal year. The Congressional Budget Office estimates these cuts will cost families about $1 billion per year in uncollected child support and up to $11 billion over the next ten years. The funding cuts will also affect promising initiatives to provide employment and case management services to low-income noncustodial parents, mostly fathers. These programs are not currently implemented in Florida.
